She is such a happy girl, with the cutest dimples, loves to play and be silly too, but always brings her lovey to the session, which is the absolute sweetest. 💗 Lovies are the best. I know I’ve said it before, but if your child wants something soothing or special to them to come along for the session, don’t fight them. It can serve as a sweet reminder of the stage they were in when you took the photos. These stages fly by us, and they are just gone. Fresh new baby in this special home! After some in Fresh new baby in this special home! After some indoor photo time with baby Luke, we headed outside for big sis Gemma to show me the apple tree! 🌳 Her very own apple tree, which she immediately picked a ripe apple off of to share with me. 🍎 😋 It was the yummiest apple I’ve had off a tree in a while. A perfect mix of sweet and tart. I love incorporating the little details that make up your feelings of “home” into our work together. I got so excited and inspired to take their photo under the apple tree, which I wouldn’t have even known was there if Gemma didn’t lead me. Another reminder to “Let The Kids”. This Mama is phenomenal at this concept and supportive of documenting how it really is rather than perfection, which I always enjoy. It takes the pressure off everyone and allows for the cutest moments to be captured. Love this cute family and mama to bits! Ps. I think they are actually weeds, but the overgrowth of what looks like Queen Anne’s Lace flowers are so pretty to me. Maeve was up for the adventure to get out there and I LOVE what we captured together. The first image could be mistaken for a double exposure, which I love. I also love when the camera malfunctions but still produces something that feels right. This family. 🥰 Those photos of mama and her boy This family. 🥰 Those photos of mama and her boy are the ones that bring up the most feels for me in this set. They capture the feeling of what it’s like (at least for me)to be a mom of a teenage boy. It’s time for us boy moms to take a back seat as they push us away and pull us back in their adolescence. It’s not an easy thing to embrace when you’ve been the primary comfort since day 1. We watch them “grow out of us” and even though it’s so healthy and exactly what is supposed to happen, it’s still hard. I am and will forever be sending memes to remind Nathan: “hug your mom”. 😉 Meanwhile, Dad gets a new bestie. I love capturing every stage of Family. It’s such a beautiful process of transformation and growth to witness. My first photo session with these special people was when their son was just born. 14 years ago. 🩵 Ps. Erin (mom in these photos) is an exceptionally talented interior designer. You should look her up! Erin Crain Interiors. 😘
I’ve recently discovered the @redclaystrays , li I’ve recently discovered the @redclaystrays , listening to all their albums over and over, soaking in the lyrics. I love how thier song “Moments” complements the sentiment I feel behind @kaiyabrackett ‘s senior photos. 💟 Such an angel, this one. I loved her genuine spirit & the time spent getting to know each other. It brought back memories of my high school days, the good and the hard ones, which got me thinking about how we are truly made up of the moments in our lives. What happened to me back at WHS affected how I see and interpret things now, and so it goes for everyone. (Luckily, with age, we can change our minds about old beliefs that we built up to protect us at the time, but no longer serve us and were likely never true.) 🙏🏻 😉 I see so much strength and beauty in the high school girls I get to meet. It’s an absolute honor to be asked to take such important photos for them. This is a big moment in time; going into their senior year, graduating from high school, leaving the only world they’ve known to go out and try living life on their own. It’s big!
